Entanglement and nonextensive statistics

It is presented a generalization of the von Neumann mutual information in the context of Tsallis’ nonextensive statistics. As an example, entanglement between two (two-level) quantum subsystems is discussed. Important changes occur in the generalized mutual information, which measures the degree of entanglement, depending on the entropic index q.

Nonextensive statistics precursors

– We present an analysis of the statistical properties of hydrodynamic field fluctuations which reveal the existence of precursors to fingering processes. These precursors are found to exhibit power law distributions, and these power laws are shown to follow from spatial q-Gaussian structures which are solutions to the non-linear porous media equation. Over the past fifteen years, a nonextensiv...

On Nonextensive Statistics

Motivated by the growing evidence of universality and chaos in QFT and string theory, we study the Tsallis non-extensive statistics (with a non-additive q-entropy) of an ensemble of fractal strings and branes of different dimensionalities. Non-equilibrium systems with complex dynamics in stationary states may exhibit large fluctuations of intensive quantities which are described in terms of gen...

Transport coefficients and nonextensive statistics

We discuss the basic transport phenomena in gases and plasmas obeying the q-nonextensive velocity distribution (power-law). Analytical expressions for the thermal conductivity (Kq) and viscosity (ηq) are derived by solving the Boltzmann equation in the relaxation-time approximation. The available experimental results to the ratio Kq/ηq constrains the q-parameter on the interval 0.74 ≤ q ≤ 1. In...

Nonextensive statistics in viscous fingering

Measurements in turbulent flows have revealed that the velocity field in nonequilibrium systems exhibits q-exponential or power law distributions in agreement with theoretical arguments based on nonextensive statistical mechanics. Here we consider Hele-Shaw flow as simulated by the Lattice Boltzmann method and find similar behavior from the analysis of velocity field measurements. For the trans...
